Upon returning from my semester in Spain I asked my parents, well in advance, for a very special Christmas present: A plane ticket back to Spain. We talked, other plans formed, and finally it was decided. My parents would each pay a small portion of my plane ticket, flying into Paris, and flying back from Madrid, and I would pay the rest. Well that’s what happened. I am here now, with an amazing friend of mine, who I met at Middlebury College, sitting in her apartment IN PARIS!!! It’s been a pretty relaxing time. The last time I was in Paris (about 6 years ago) I did all of the touristy stuff, so this time it’s all about good food and relaxing. We’ve done a lot of walking around and adopted a really unusually sleeping pattern; but the point is we’re having fun.
I’m not going to lie, being so attached to Spain has ruined Paris a little for me. I’ve adjusted to the differences between Spain and the US, and now I’m learning to accept Paris for what it is, something that looks a bit like some parts of Madrid, but with French people, French stores, French food, the French time schedule, and all other things French that are not Spanish; and therefore not what I am anxiously waiting for and will be experiencing in just a few more days. Oh the joys of (reverse) culture shock. But like I said, I’m having a good time, getting plenty of sleep and exercise, and trying new foods including foie gras and a galette des Rois. Very yummy : )
So here you are, what most of you are waiting for, PICTURES!!!!!!!
